DOLLS | Ricardo Runa

20/04/2026

Ricardo Runa's new creation exposes, with biting irony, the connection between "dolls" and those who pull the strings of power, politicians and global decision-makers who, like marionettes, obey invisible forces and greater interests. The narrative then dives into a dreamlike world inhabited only by dolls, some made of plastic: beautiful yet hollow, shiny yet false, trapped in a culture of appearances and the trivialities of a society that favors surface over essence.

Within this universe, two types of dolls coexist: the "human" ones, capable of feeling, loving, and suffering; and the "non-human" ones, unable to experience genuine emotions. Through encounters, tensions, and revelations, the piece constructs a mirror in which the audience sees reflected the fragilities, vanities, and inequalities of the real world.

However, DOLLS does not stop at criticism. It ignites a spark of hope—the possibility of a world where "dolls" of different perspectives, personalities, and temperaments can coexist freely, in a pluralistic and respectful way: a place where feeling is not a flaw, but the very essence of what makes us alive.
